Haliburton County Studio Tour 2014
/October 4th & 5th, 11th & 12th 2014 are the dates for the 27th Annual Haliburton County Studio Tour. At the peak of the Fall Colour Season, for two weekends only, all HCST member studios are open to the public from 10am-5pm. If you drive by a studio sign on your way home or to the cottage, and you have always been curious, now is your chance to discover what is being created beyond that sign! Haliburton county has a wealth of artists, drawn by the natural beauty and serene lifestyle. The tour offers an opportunity to visit and observe painters in their studio, potters at their wheel and glass-blowers working their magic with molten glass. Jewelers, sculptors and wood-carvers demonstrate their craft throughout the two weekends. Textile artists create pictures with fabric, complicated fashion designs and exotic hand-dyed items from wool and silk. Children and adults can discover their inner artist through conversation with the artists and observation of the creative process.
Along the less-travelled roads of Haliburton county at every studio, visitors are greeted with Haliburton hospitality. While they enjoy refreshments, they have the opportunity to see works in progress and the latest offerings from each studio. Shopping at the source is an exciting and rewarding experience! Artists and craftsmen work all year to have their most unique and special pieces ready for October, making the Studio Tour the best opportunity to acquire a one-of-a-kind piece from the increasingly well-known and highly regarded studios of Haliburton County. Every studio on the tour has been vetted and the artist’s work evaluated by a jury to determine that they have achieved the high standards of originality, quality and consistency demanded by HCST. Only the studios displaying the easily recognizable sign of the loon have been invited to join the Studio Tour.
To help you plan your tour, brochures with maps and studio descriptions are available at the Haliburton Tourism Office, local galleries, shops and restaurants. The latest news, maps and picture galleries from member studios may be found on Facebook and on the HCST website.
