July 12th News
Hey fellow sailors!
There was another race this Saturday in which three boats partook. The day was a bright one … lovely after all the gloomy weather that we’ve been having. The breeze was mild and the race was a bit of a slow one. Jennifer Buckley had her Laser out for the first time this summer Avery as her excellent crew. Kylie Fellows was out once again with the vibrant orange sails of her trusty Laser, with guest Maya as the crew and Tanis was flying solo in one of the Sanders’ Lasers.
The race was set up with buoys to port, adjacent to the North Shore. The course didn’t take the sailors too long to complete. With the light wind that was blowing, not having a crew was probably an advantage for highly adept sailor, Tanis. She swept the race up, finishing about two minutes ahead of the runners up. Kylie and Maya crossed the finish line after a steady race, a much improved race for Kylie compared to last week. Jennifer and Avery were not much farther behind and crossed the finish line a couple minutes after. All in all, it was a pretty close race!
Thanks go to Len Beech for marshalling the race. We’re still looking for marshals for the month of August so once again you can email me (emfellows15@gmail.com) or my dad (sfellows@cogeco.ca) if you would like to volunteer.
Hopefully we’ll see more boats out next weekend! Let’s get those boats in the water.
See you out on the lake!
